Aviation Access Forum Terms of Reference
The Aviation Access Forum (AAF) will provide advice to the Australian Government on policy, operational and administrative issues associated with disability access to airline and airport services.
The role of the AAF is to:
- Act as a forum for consultations between the Australian Government agencies, the disability community and airline and airport operators about disability access issues in Australian aviation.
- Be a mechanism for the provision of information to the disability community and the aviation industry (through disability community representative members and industry representative members) about Government and aviation industry disability initiatives.
- Be a means of receiving or collecting information about significant or systemic issues experienced by the disability community in accessing aviation services that can help inform Government and industry consideration of potential changes or improvements to policy, operational and administrative matters relating to disability access.
- Contribute to relevant government or industry review processes, such as the periodic review of the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002, and help progress the implementation of agreed aviation recommendations from such reviews.
The AAF will comprise representatives from industry, government agencies and the disability sector and will receive secretariat support from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications.
